Laser Plumb BobThe Laser Plumb Bob or Dot Lasers projects two, three, or five beams of light in the form of dots onto the wall or other work surface. Most Laser Plumb Bob models can be used for both indoor and outdoor work. A laser plumb laser level can project a plumb laser line from floor to ceiling. It can also be used to do laying out and level work as well as squaring up things by projecting dots on a vertical and horizontal axis for a 90-degree reference. Some Laser Plumb Bobs or dot lasers must be manually leveled, others are the self-leveling types. A Laser Plumb Bob that is leveled manually is done so by means of a centering a bubble in a vial built into the level. The plumb laser level has an accuracy of approximately 1/8th inch per 30 feet. A second type of plumb laser is a self-leveling level which is done with a pendulum and magnet built into the level. These levels are typically more accurate than manually leveled models with an accuracy of 1/8th inch per 100 feet. ![]() The Laser Plumb Bob (or Laser Dot) in use. |
