Johnson Red Beam Industrial Magnetic Pulley (Sheave) Alignment Laser, Model: 40-6200.

The Johnson Level Red Beam Magnetic Pulley Alignment Laser Tool casts a streak of laser light parallel with the drive line pulleys or sheaves. Little adjustable targets are magnetically affixed to the sheave or pulley. The alignment laser is set up to cross its beam with that of the target’s. The Red Beam Magnetic Pulley Alignment Laser will indicate if they are correctly aligned. The middle of the targets has a red, Retro-Reflective film that mirrors or glows to enhance the visibility and precision of the laser beam. The film displays the immediate state of the alignment which is called "Positive Tracking".

  • Belt and motor bearing wear is minimized by Decreasing Vibration.
  • Simple to use on small diameter sheaves because of its trim dimensions.
  • Prolongs the lifespan of sheaves and belts
  • Aids in maintaining proper pulley belt tension
  • Speedy Set Ups
  • Reduces bearing wear
  • When used like a laser level, it can be used to inspect the height and flatness of motor & gear box mounting plates.
  • Using this laser results in the reduction of downtime and production setbacks

Model 40-6200 Applications:

  • Its primary use is in the alignment of sheaves or pulleys in a factory or plant.

Definition of Sheave Alignment

The performance of all of Johnson Level’s Sheave Alignment Kits exceed the installation requirements issued by the drive belt manufacturers, which includes those of Polyflex®, Standard V, Micro-V®, and Synchronous belt makers. These manufacturers state that their belts should be aligned within ¼ degree or 1/16-inch per foot of drive center distance. This indicates that the best greatest value to the maintenance specialist is a pulley alignment system with a blend of features that best suits the ability of the user the machinery that will need aligning. The utmost value is presented to our customers in the design Johnson's Sheave Alignment product line. The following vital product attributes comprise this value:

Easy to Use

The essential job of aligning two sheaves has a desired goal of greatly reducing the wear and tear on belts and bearings and to prevent the belt from being kicked off of the drive mechanism. Historically, the millwright employed a string and straight edge making the alignment procedure a lengthy and expensive event. Setting up Johnson's Sheave Alignment Laser System is easy to use and can be used on a wide range of machines. The Johnson Sheave Alignment Laser System has few pieces that need to be set up and meets and surpasses all requirements for accuracy.

Easy to Understand

The axiom that certainly appropriate for the Johnson Sheave Alignment Laser System is "The fewer the parts the better."These tools were designed with attention towards ease of use for the maintenance staff, even for those who are less technologically savvy. The Johnson Sheave Alignment Laser System is instinctive for the user and clearly shows parallel or non-parallel configuration.

Uncomplicated -- Small Number of Parts

All that is needed is a parallel laser line on one of the sheaves projecting to a target or targets set on the other sheave. As little as three targets used on edge alignment systems will indicate the angle offset error to the maintenance staff. The typical reflective system, groove alignment system, or digital system does not provide the uncomplicated, flexibility that the Johnson Sheave Alignment Tool offers.

Straightforward to Interpret

Observing a laser line projected at a target requires simple, straightforward reading. When the Johnson Sheave Alignment Laser System projects a crooked line, an adjustment is needed. When a digital sheave alignment system indicates a jagged 3-D line, it is not clearly understood. Because digital system readings cannot be seen with the human eye, adjustments are not innately made. What is needed is a system in which adjustments can be made by the maintenance personnel's perspective. When groove targets are being used, it is difficult to see between or under the belts. It is much easier for the user to read with Johnson's new Color Gage® Target System that employs color change and reflective technology to enhance contrast.

Greatest Flexibility

The best value is one that works for the largest assortment of sheave sizes, sheave spacing, belt guard designs, and sheave types. An over 100-yeat history of sheave and pulley transmissions has produced numerous belt styles, sheave designs and wide-ranging applications. The superior sheave alignment system is one that will adjust to the maximum number and assortment of power transmission systems with the fewest required accessories. Included in this category are interior and exterior systems which operate in high surrounding light environments. An example of this would be commercial, roof-top air conditioning systems exposed to direct sunlight. In this case the Johnson Green Beam Laser Alignment System would prevail over highly intense light to produce a visible beam.

Guaranteed Toughness

The industrialized surroundings in which sheave alignment systems are applied tend to be filthy, oily, and greasy places in which the parts and apparatus are brutally and harshly handled. The result is that tools like magnetic laser transmitters, laser receiver, laser targets, and grooved tools undergo a thrashing whenever they are placed on the face of a sheave or groove. At times, the laser and targets are dropped onto concrete floors a number of times throughout their years of service. They therefore must have a tough, durable design. An example of this is the removal of the hard, anodized, protective finishes due to typical use such as frequently slamming the laser transmitter onto the face of the sheave. The magnets must receive a protective coating as well. Daily use of these systems could impair and damage their calibration and precision. Eventually, intricate and complicated designs merely aggravate these problems. Characteristics such as toughness and resilience are an immense ingredient of perceptible worth.
