Grade Rod

Grade Rod - Survey Rod - Direct Reading Rod

The grade rod (also known as the survey rod or the leveling rod) is a graduated rod used in measuring the distance between points on the ground and the line of sight of a leveling instrument like the rotary laser level.  The grade rod is a collapsible wooden, aluminum, or fiberglass rod eight to sixteen feet long when open, and three to four inches wide, often graduated in feet and tenths of feet (or in meters).  Manufacturers often paint the grade rod in contrasting colors, preferably with white or yellow background and a black saw-tooth design to mark feet and fractions of a foot.  Such a design can be read at great distances.

At Laser Levels USA you can also find the direct reading rod or lenker rod that you are looking for in various lengths in both feet and meters.
